excellent show.
I saw you at OCF! Keep playing music. Got my CD of Same ol' and I'm lovin it. My wife thinks I'm nuts, My friends don't understand but the rest of us on this page do. There are countless expressions of other form of music out there but there is only one Baby Gramps!
I, for one hope you do become a "Rag time Millionaire.
Keep on pickin, grinnin. How do I become a registered person? My wife and I saw your sets at the Musicfest in Courtenay last weekend. Every year there is someone or some group that really grabs our attention. This year it was you. I still smile when I think of your rendition of Hocus Pocus. Your performance was a delight. Please come back to our area to entertain us again.
Dan Wickham Best show of music fest and quite sociable! Thanks for making my weekend! Come back to B.C. some time! Wow, I used to see you perform at the old Backstage in Ballard, seems like a liftime ago. Glad to see your still alive & kickin'.
Good luck You make Country Fair worth the dust all by yourself. Any time you're within a couple of hundred miles playing, we'll be there. You've started a "roots revival" in my head. I have a special request. Can you play that old blues song "Cocaine" ("woke up in the morning looked in the mirror at me, there was a hole in my face where my nose used to be") and dedicate it to the One I Love? i have been lower than a snake's belly in a wheel rut but that's a cat with a long tail and Time's two termites shaking hands across pile of Zen sawdust. Anybody out there go an original thought, or a tune on a string of barbed war? Dear Gramps.......it was great seeing you recently in Ashland, whether you're performing to 25 people or 250, you always deliver the goods in the highest degree. Hope to see you this summer, maybe at a Dylan/Willie Nelson show. To anyone reading this who has not experienced Baby Gramps live, gather up your loved ones and do so ASAP.........you can thank me later. signed, your friend and Zimmy co-patriot, Lee in Southern Oregon hey gramps,
just thanking you (and your guests) for the wonderful link below--as i'm incredibly interested in la weight loss & diet pills, soma muscle relaxers, lipitor/cialis/phentermine (all of them, whatever they are), and gambling! how do these people sneak into these cyber-crannies where i thought only the cool and weird lurk? now,
is it true that you're playing with the former Portlanders--the Dolomites? the very same? can anyone provide any info on this/them...as they were one of my very favorite northwest bands.
thanks
(ps--check out illustrated books by John Agee on Palindromes and other Grampyesque wordplay...i think that's
a "commercial" that y'all actually might be interested in.) I can't hear "The Sheik of Arabie" without remembering how you taught it to us years ago and I can't wait to hear you sing it again "without no pants on..." I just saw you play at O.U.R. fest and I can't tell you how happy your performance made me. Thanks for being so fantastic! I have only heard 2 songs of yours, and the first one I heard (Lazy Afternoon, I think) KVMR, Nevada City, CA I managed to find the CD and bought it. This morning (6/4, my 16th wedding anniversary) I heard on KVMR - Breakfast Blues, but I thought the DJ said B.B. Kramp, but she did say Hossradish was the CD. I googled Breakfast Blues and found it is a Trout Fishing in America Song...then I googled B.B. Kramp and got nothing...then I did Hossradish and FOUND YOU! And, thus have mailed away for Hossradish. You are absolutely hilarious and sound, certainly on B-fast Blues, like some old, ancient, deltablues, blacker than black singer...I'm looking forward to getting this CD and enjoying the crap out of it. God bless GOOGLE and Baby Gramps!! Dear Baby Gramjps--I'm an old fan of yours who has lived on Vashon for almost 30 years and have seen a number of your performances on the island, the most recent at the fundraiser for the Backbone campaign and Stephan and Aulette's CD release party. Roxy introduced us on one of your performances at the Blue Heron in the 80s.
During your performance last week you had a young fellow selling CDs and DVDs for you. I gave him a check made out to you for $35 in exchange for your early CD and your DVD, thinking that I would get the best sample of your work that way and the fun of a visual performance by you as well. It wasn't until I broke out the DVD to show it to a group of folks at a party that I discovered that I had been given both of your CDs and no DVD. I'd like to make it right--not by sending back a CD but by sending you whatever additional $$$$ is necessary and having you or one of your minions send me the DVD in return. How can we arrange this?
Your work remains as unique and wonderful as ever--it's great to see you out there still trucking! People must have told you that in the late 40s or early 50s there was a Saturday radio show in NYC that used Teddy Bear's Picnic as a theme song. Every time I hear it, it still makes me smile
Thanks again
Joan Kirshner The fans of Freakatorium eagerly await your unshavenly rhapsodidic vocalinguistical virtuosities You are terrific. we saw you at the Oregon Country Fair in July 2003.....and got your email to late to see you at the Powerhouse in Sebastopol. I have a great photo of you that I took.....keep us posted on when you will be back in Northern California......your fan B&A....baillie & Alan Hi Baby Gramps!
I first saw you in 1984 at the Oregon Country Fair on the dusty trail, at Shady Grove. I've loved your music ever since, and count myself among the Teeming Millions who recite your palindromes at every opportunity!
You're the greatest, I hope to see you again soon!
Chris BABY GRAMPS!! I just saw you for the first time at the Odeon. I played guitar in the opening band "Papa Joe". Amazing show!! I was blown away! Hope to see you on the 19th! Hey Gramps, beautiful website, looking forward to you at the first Dancing Dragons festival August 20-22, 2004! You're fabulous! Deep respect, Robert DeSpain and Laura Stuart Hey, Just returned home from a lovely evening of music from you and Kitchen Syncopation at Crossroads. Love, Howard and Margot Grim and Family lome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!togo Hello Grampie
I drop by once in a while to see if you are coming back to Ukiah ever again after that miserable turnout at the Ukiah Brewing Co one Sunday eve. I hope at least you'll be playing close enough for your Ukiah fans to drive and see you..... I hope you are well and enjoying your music and your life. We are moving to New Zealand later this year. I fantasize you coming out there and wowing the crowd (or is that crowing the wowd?) I think New Zealand is ripe for your presence. Especially as I will be there after October 04.
Love, Rosie Just fixing my e-mail address, Pete Hallo,
I caught you in Portland at the Laurelthurst last month and was blown away by the great sound of the tri and you actually recorded yourself! I am grateful to Shoehorn and Curtis for convincing the old school master into recording his wonderful music for prosperity, and I am ordering another Hossradish CD before they are sold out.
Yours,
the real Pete "Oxymoron" Elder Hi, me again. I just got a message from one of your fans who read my comment to you. If you dont remember me, then just make a palendrome of my name, with my name second, no other letters, the name broken into 3 smaller words in reverse, then you WILL remember me, for this pallendrome describes me perfectly! It was you who showed me this in a cafe in Vancouver some 10 yrs ago-. Love, love, love- T Hi, me again. I just got a message from one of your fans who read my comment to you. It was obvious that the Port Angeles crowd loved your music.
I have never been a follower of any music group, but it's never too late! Your CD is taking a trip with me to Shanghai, China to visit a friend who teaches children from various countries. You will be heard around the world. GTR Baby, your my hero and largest fan from La Grande. Hi Honey. Great to find you have a site now. Dont know if you remember this Vancouver born girl- we met about 10 yrs ago- Oregon Country Fair, and other places...

What a beautiful woman. Good luck to you.
Joshua Hey Grampy! If you are reading this, then you probably arent getting bitten by mosquitos. Thank Goodness for that. Just wanted to sign your book and say that when my brother and I saw you a few years ago out at Hornings we had the swellest time ever. What was even better was afterwards when you won that eating contest after swallowing all of those deviled eggs. Grampy, I learned you may know how to make me and mine giggle and twitch, but you eat better eggs than Roberto Eggelton, who was the runner up eater if I can recall. Have an eggcellent say Grampy.....knucklehead I was pretty down one night and then I caught your show and then I was still pretty down, but less so. So, thanks. yo grampus what a hoot to much to read. nice to have so many aquaintances. have ya been pluckin that old wards banjo. got the fedora from susie thanks alot fits well. I got here by way of the bumbershoot site. bet ya have alot of links. I'm underconstruction at my site best to ya & see ya all of a sudden jeffrrrr Gramps, U R 2 COOL! It's been a few years, but "Hay" we can't all move to Seattle! Sorry that Winnarainbow didn't get the Pig Nic going...one of our favorite gigs....but nutins gonna keep us from da way. Hope your van's running well, and mine is just fine. I wrote a new song this year, and It looks like you did too! Didn't you have 'wood-like' shelf paper on that dobro once? If not, Wavy must spiked my lunch ticket. If you see my sis, tell her I said "Hi"! Good luck this year! Always da best....C my friends and me caught the show at the tractor and wanted to tell you how much fun it was. we went to see circus contraption, and liked your stuff so well we bought a cd! thanks for the fun time, and we look forward to seeing you guys at the sunset... Can't wait to see ya again. Happy New Year!! This whole damn thing is a hoot.
I claim to my wife that the front picture on the CD is bogus. She is not able to see this, even although she was drug to one of your performances. It was in La Grande, Oregon maybe ten years ago.
But I know better. Baby Gramps never uses fingerpicks, he may use a capo but i have never seen it, it is the wrong damn hat - this a staged photo with a younger man inhabiting the beard. It is fun but wrong.
My wife has never done seen you preform enough. She hasn't had the advantages I've had, like when I spied Baby Gramps filling his bottle of stop-leak from an outdoor faucet.
Goddamn. Baby Gramps plays the daylights out of that old National. Keep it up. hey gramps and fellow weirdos--
i wanted to point out to gramps specifically (but perhaps it interests all you who love grampy's musick) that the complete emmett miller recordings (all of 'em digitally remastered from the original 78's) along with a bunch'o old photos and chapbook are out there for a pretty good price. gramps, perhaps you can contact Jack Norton directly and have em give you an xmas present (you played with him in eugene). i hope it's ok to post something like this...this is not sposed to be an advertisement, i'm not jack norton, i've nothing to gain. http://www.jacknorton.net
hope i can make it up to the show at the Swiss in Tacoma, but if not, this is what you get from me for the holidays. I'm a bit late getting back to you, but just wanted you to know I caught your act at the "Crash Landing" in Anchorage, AK back in '81 and had a great time. After all these years, I still wonder...Where do all the mosquitos go? Baby Gramps, Caught your show at Traditions 11/1/03. Your witty performance and musical prowess of guitar and voice, was refreshing and innovative. I especially loved your song, Charge It To The Dust, which was hauntingly beautiful. This song does not appear on your CDs or DVD...Is there anyway to get a recording of this song? I appreciated your folksy kindness in taking the time to talk music w/ my 11 year old son (and me too), share stories, as well as allowing us to play your incredible, National, steel body guitar. What a treat! I may never play my Gibson or any guitar the same way again. Curtis was equally as generous and did your tunes justice w/ his accompaniment w/ various instruments. We look forward to hearing you play again and will spread the word about Baby Gramps….. Thurs. Oct.9th--Baby Gramps, Sandman, and Jack Norton.
Sam Bond's Garage, Eugene OR. this is tonight and i'm
2000 miles away, so i hope someone else takes my place in
the front row. we all know Gramps, Sandman is a post-modern rappin' cowboy balladeer. Jack Norton is a young version of Grampy, spittin and a-stompin with equal parts Tiny Tim/Tom Waits. it's an incredible line-up. GRAMPS!!!
I like the new CD... It now lives in the CD player. Maybe we should get together fer some bacon fruit roll-ups at sometime or another. They're meaty and fruity!!! And best of all you can just peel and eat!!! I can cook real well too. It only takes a minute to whip up some fettucine salmonella. And I know you haven't tried my chicken tetracycline either. We can wash those down with some biscuits and gravy flavored sodee pops. If ya don't like them sausagy, creamy, biscuit flavored sodas, then we can drink some of those chili cheese dog flavored sodee pops!!!
I'm looking forward to seeing you back there yesterday my friend. REMEMBER to be on the lookout for my new 4 piece band... We're called the Jackson 5 Trio.
Rick (Swimming Eagle) Klu What the hell kinda music is that?? That's the craziest thing I ever heard!! I don't know what to say. Did I really hear that, or did I accidentally take some acid?? HOKUS POKUS BOW LEGGED LOCUST ?? Babygramps has changed EVERYTHING...FOREVER!!! and hardly anyone has noticed...........................................!!! Greetings from Houston, TX. My name is Lisa. Let me thank you for such an informative site. I used it to compose hey gramps and gramps fans,
there is a show going for october 9th 2003 with special guests Chris "Sandman" Sand (montana's rappin cowboy) and
Jack Norton (vaudevillian redneck). but i don't know if i should post the info...so, i'll leave it to YOU or the powers that be to find out where and why?
see ya all of a sudden Saw you at the Blues Fest in St Helens... you blew them all away... Absolutely Amazing!!! Thank you for your great stuff!!! Let's not forget super Curt and Shoehorn too!!! Great time had by all!!! Gramps-Looking forward to your visit to the Iron Door Saloon-california's oldest. Peter&Bettike Barsotti Baby gramps...i doubt you read this but i have a question for anyone who might know the answer. I saw some kid playing blues/folk/countyish music on the sidewalk at bumbershoot who was amazing and i talked to him for awhile after he played but i can't remember his name. He said he was 17 and that he was from tacoma washington. So i am pretty much just on a crazy seach to find out who this kid is. I figured i would ask cause i also talked baby gramps...well, i was introduced to him anyways...and i know he knows the kid pretty well. E-mail me at su13lime85@aol.com if anyone knows who he is. Thanks!! Baby Gramps!!!! Saw you at North Country Fair in July. You rock it man!!! Blew my mushroom buzzed mind when you and Washboard Hank tore it up on Saturday night. Come back soon ok? Peace....... Hi, I haven't talked to since I was working at Music Street on the ave and you were sitting outside singing. Looks like you are doing great. Bill Nice website Hello. How ya doin'? Remember me. We used to go out to the Other Side of The Tracks together. My guitar has been gathering dust -- but I am writing poetry. Working on a 32 page epic poem at the moment. Plus smaller individual pieces. Where do I purchase any of you CDs? Holy Mackrel!! Have ya ever thought of runnin for office? We need a beard of your caliber representing us guitarists and our needs for a change. My greatest wish is to have a National Tri Cone 12 string. Sometimes I have the money but can't find the guitar, and sometimes I find the guitar and don't have the money. Hey, I can't complain, I live on the coast; eating toast covered in Drost, it's the most. Glad your on the planet. Watch that Curtis dude. I see him fingering a pair of barber shears in the corner sometimes. Then there's that saw. We are really looking forward to seeing you at the St helens Bluesfest sept 6th.
